The cat in Dellawella logo isn’t a random cat. It’s the Gata (Greek for Cat).
The Gata was a very familiar part of family life in Ancient Greece – the comic playwright Aristophanes frequently featured cats in his works and often used the phrase “the cat did it” for comic effect.
In modern Greece, the Gata is regarded as a natural cohabitant in every area. It’s impossible to estimate the number of stray cats in Greece – from every Athenian and Cycladic alley to the most alienated mountain village, feral cats are simply part of everyday life.
The Gata also evokes the spirit of independence, intelligence, and of course, curiosity. As for those who consider the black cat as a symbol of bad luck, Dellawella sees it as the exact opposite: The black cat brings good fortune, draws wealth and prosperity, and makes the safest homes.
